Britain’s energy system is changing.

Nearly 100 years ago, Battersea Power Station was built to generate electricity for London from coal. Today, companies like EcoFlow see a very different future, with solar generation, batteries and flexible energy use increasingly distributed across our homes. Weirdly I seem to see the same future as a large corporation. Scary I know.

EcoFlow invited me to Battersea Power Station for the UK launch of its new STREAM 5000 series. In this video I wanted to understand where products like this fit, what the future of home energy could look like, and how close we really are to making solar and battery storage accessible to more households.

🔋 EcoFlow STREAM

This video was produced in collaboration with EcoFlow, who invited me to the London launch event and sponsored the video. As always, the opinions expressed are my own.

EcoFlow’s STREAM early-bird offer is now live. A £9.90 deposit secures the exclusive launch offer, including an extra £100 discount. The deposit offer runs until 15 September.

⚡ Make your battery work harder

The tariff you pair with a home battery can make a huge difference. A few Octopus options worth looking at:

• Intelligent Octopus Go – particularly interesting if you have a compatible EV or charger, with six hours of cheaper overnight electricity for the whole home.
• Octopus Go – another EV option with five hours of cheaper overnight electricity.
• Cosy Octopus – designed for homes with heat pumps or other eligible low-carbon electric heating, with three cheaper periods each day.
• Octopus Flux / Intelligent Octopus Flux – tariffs designed around homes with battery storage and solar.
• Agile Octopus – another interesting option if you have a battery and are happy to actively shift when you import and export electricity.
