Did you know that knee problems, and other lower body injuries, can be traced back to an inflexible spine? Surprisingly many runners I meet think that your whole body should be completely still when you run and that you should only move your arms and legs.
I have therefore spoken with Dr. Alex Gometz from www.prehab.com who shares his insights on compensatory injuries, particularly how issues in the spine can lead to for example knee problems. In this video, Doctor Gometz shows you how to test whether your spine is sufficiently mobile.
And towards the end of the video, you will also find some of my suggestions for some exercises that are good for maintaining good mobility in the spine, so that you not only reduce the risk of injury but also achieve smoother and more fluid movements when running, which also makes you more energy efficient.
